The enthusiasm from students and faculty alike has led to a groundbreaking partnership with Akshayakalpa Organic and Regenerative Farming, with the goal of creating a sustainable farm on the Glendale Academy campus. This endeavour offers a unique learning experience that goes beyond traditional classroom teachings, providing students with valuable insights into the world of agriculture, sustainability, and organic farming.

Akshayakalpa has generously taken the lead in this project, bringing their expertise in organic farming to educate and guide the students. Over the next eight weeks, Akshayakalpa will conduct weekly training sessions on Saturdays, held directly on school grounds. These interactive sessions are designed to teach students about the fundamentals of organic farming, while also providing hands-on guidance as they engage in the cultivation process.

The learning will cover key topics:

• Raised Bed Preparation: The foundational step to creating an efficient and sustainable farming space.
• Crop Planning and Sowing: Teaching students how to plan, plant, and maintain crops for maximum yield and sustainability.
• Soil Management: Understanding the importance of healthy soil for organic farming and how to enhance its vitality.
• Weed Management: Techniques for controlling weeds without harming the environment.
• Pest and Disease Management: Organic methods for keeping crops healthy and pest-free.
• Harvesting: Teaching the proper techniques for harvesting crops at the optimal time.
• Farmer’s Market Event: A hands-on experience where students will showcase and sell their produce, connecting them with the community and demonstrating the fruits of their labor.
