In a heartwarming demonstration of compassion and communal unity, students enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) at OWIS Sarjapur once again took the lead in successfully executing the "Fistful of Grains" social responsibility CAS project. Originating from the students' initiative last year, this project continued with even greater enthusiasm and commitment this year. CAS Projects (Creativity, Activity, and Service) are student-driven endeavors aimed at fostering personal growth and community involvement through creative, active, and service-oriented activities, encouraging students to become proactive and responsible members of society.
This month-long endeavor commenced with a representative student from Soroptimist International and the DP students introducing and elaborating on the project during a comprehensive school assembly, garnering enthusiastic participation from both parents and students alike. Throughout the project's duration, DP students actively visited each class, motivating and inspiring grain collection efforts. Building upon last year's success of collecting approximately 650 to 800 kilograms of grains, the DP students' consistent reminders and motivational endeavors this year led to an impressive collection of 1300 kilograms of grains. Upon the project's conclusion, the students handed over the collected grain bags to a collaborated NGO, Soroptimist International of Bangalore, who subsequently delivered them directly to Dream India Network.
Dream India Network, with a mission to provide daily meals to 1000 underprivileged individuals over three years, stands to benefit significantly from the grains collected through this project. The collaboration among OWIS Sarjapur, Soroptimist International of Bangalore, and Dream India Network underscores the impactful outcomes attainable through community partnerships.
