GSF sends 200 oxygen tanks to India

Global School Foundation (GSF) has contributed 200 oxygen tanks for Covid-19 affected patients in India, as a timely gesture to help deal with the medical crisis in the country.

The oxygen tanks were loaded for dispatch on Navy ships on Tuesday and the consignment is on its way to India. GSF has been in constant touch with the High Commission of India ever since the crisis broke, and has provided all sorts of assistance they require to help India overcome these challenges.

This is the second time that GSF has contributed towards the Covid-relief work in India. In early 2020, when the crisis first hit India, GSF contributed SG $200,000 towards the PM CARES Fund. PM Cares is the Prime Minister’s Fund which was set up to help the nation fight against the pandemic.

The second wave of the pandemic has hit the country hard and the hospitals have been dealing with shortages of oxygen cylinders. The Indian Government has been receiving help from all over the world and GSF is at the forefront to help the nation. GSF has always believed in giving back to society in every possible way and at every available opportunity.

“India is in need of all possible medical help, and it is our duty to do whatever we can to assist in Covid-relief measures,” said Mr Atul Temurnikar, Chairman of Global Schools Foundation. “We will continue to follow the situation, and work closely with the Indian embassy for every other requirement,” he said.

The Foundation has been consistently donating to education-related purposes to assist economically disadvantaged students in Singapore. For Covid-affected families, the Foundation started the ‘GIIS Resilience 2020 Scholarship’ which ensured that students do not face any setback in their education due to circumstances beyond their control.

“GSF has always believed in giving back to society. Over the years, we have fulfilled our Corporate Social Responsibility through various activities and services in India”, Mr Temurnikar said.

We wish a speedy recovery to all the people affected by Covid-19 and hope for the situation to get better soon. We will continue to play our part in supporting the Government and appeal to everyone to make donations no matter how small or big.
