Building a Global Research Culture: The Journey of the GCEE Research Centre

Building a Global Research Culture: The Journey of the GCEE Research CentreThe Global Centre for Education Excellence (GCEE) Research Centre was established in September 2023 with a clear and ambitious vision: to cultivate a strong culture of research, inquiry, innovation, and academic excellence across the Global Schools Group (GSG) network.Since its inception, the Research Centre has steadily grown into a dynamic academic platform that supports educators, students, and school leaders in embracing research-informed practices while positioning GSG as a forward-looking global education provider. As we launch the inaugural edition of the GCEE Research Centre Newsletter, we celebrate not only the milestones achieved over the past two years, but also the exciting journey ahead as we continue strengthening research ecosystems across our campuses worldwide. A Foundation Built on Research and InnovationThe establishment of the GCEE Research Centre marked an important milestone in GSG’s educational journey. Designed to bridge educational practice with academic inquiry, the Centre was envisioned as more than just a research body. It was created to become a catalyst for meaningful educational transformation. From the beginning, the Centre focused on fostering a research-driven culture among educators and students by promoting academic writing, data-driven decision making, benchmarking initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaboration.Over the past two years, the Centre has expanded its reach across multiple regions including Malaysia, Singapore, India, the Middle East, Japan, and the Philippines, creating opportunities for staff and students to engage in authentic research experiences and scholarly dialogue. Key Achievements and Milestones1) Advancing Research Literacy Across GSGOne of the earliest and most impactful initiatives undertaken by the Research Centre was the implementation of research methodology and academic writing training sessions for students and staff. Beginning with workshops conducted at OWIS Nanyang Singapore, the initiative quickly expanded to campuses such as GIIS Kuala Lumpur, GIIS Smart Campus Singapore, and OWIS Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, alongside numerous virtual and hybrid sessions across regions. These structured sessions introduced participants to critical academic fundamentals:	Research Methodologies: Introduction to quantitative, qualitative, and inquiry-based learning designs.	Academic Writing Frameworks: Structuring arguments, lit reviews, and formatting academic drafts.	Ethical Scholarship: Focusing on academic integrity, citations, and responsible research practices.	Publication Readiness: Navigating peer-review requirements and scholarly communication channels.	Data Interpretation: Statistical clarity, thematic evaluation, and critical objective analysis. The response from campuses was overwhelmingly positive, with educators and students demonstrating strong enthusiasm toward integrating research into teaching, learning, and academic enrichment activities. In 2025, the Research Centre further expanded its research training efforts through a combination of online and in-person workshops across Malaysia, Singapore, India, Japan, the Middle East, and the Philippines. This strengthened GSG’s commitment toward developing inquiry-driven learning environments and empowering students with future-ready research competencies. 2) The Growth of the Global Journal of Educational Thoughts (GJET)A defining achievement of the Research Centre has been the successful establishment and growth of the Global Journal of Educational Thoughts (GJET) (ISSN: 3060-8848). Officially launched in June 2024, GJET was created as an academic platform dedicated to advancing educational research, thought leadership, and scholarly dialogue within the GSG community and beyond. The publication of the first volume in 2024 marked the beginning of an important academic milestone for GSG. Since then, the journal has continued to grow steadily, with each issue consistently featuring multiple peer-reviewed articles contributed by educators and researchers across the network.GJET has become an crucial destination space for: Practitioner research, Educational innovation, Reflective inquiry, Interdisciplinary academic collaboration, and professional Research dissemination.Looking ahead, the Research Centre remains committed to increasing the visibility, indexing, and global reach of GJET while strengthening collaborations with researchers and educational institutions worldwide. 3) Empowering Student Researchers & PublicationsA major highlight in 2025 was the successful publication of the first student-led research article by school students from GIIS Kuala Lumpur in GJET. Their study investigated factors influencing intention to adopt AI tools for learning. This milestone symbolised a critical evolution in the educational experience within GSG by moving students beyond being passive consumers of knowledge into active contributors to academic work.Supported through dedicated mentorship from campus educators and the central GCEE Research Centre team, the achievement demonstrated the powerful impact of structured guidance, authentic inquiry, and collaborative engagement. The Centre continues to heavily advocate for student-led research as an essential component of holistic education, critical thinking development, and global university readiness. Looking Ahead: Expanding Research Excellence in 2026 and BeyondAs the GCEE Research Centre enters its next phase of institutional maturity, several bold strategic initiatives are planned to further strengthen the global research culture and deepen academic engagement across GSG campuses:	Global Scale-Up: Expanding intensive research training models to more international campuses.

As technology becomes an integral part of everyday life, equipping students with the knowledge to use digital platforms safely and responsibly has never been more important. Recognising the need to build awareness from an early age, the Cambridge Secondary Section of Witty International School organised an engaging Cyber Safety Awareness Session for students of Grades 6 and 7 on 20 June. The informative session was led by Dr Vidyadhari Singh, Head of the Department of Cybersecurity at Thakur College of Engineering & Technology (TCET), accompanied by Witty International School alumnus Jaineel Kumar Panchal and a dedicated team of student volunteers. Together, they delivered an interactive programme that encouraged students to understand the opportunities and challenges of the digital world while emphasising the importance of responsible online behaviour.Through a series of engaging discussions, practical demonstrations and relatable real-life examples, students explored the fundamentals of digital citizenship and cyber safety. The speakers highlighted common online risks such as cyberbullying, phishing scams, identity theft, fake profiles and online fraud, helping students recognise potential threats they may encounter while using the internet. The session also focused on the importance of protecting personal information, creating strong passwords, maintaining privacy settings and exercising caution while interacting on social media and gaming platforms. Students were encouraged to think critically before sharing information online and to understand that every digital action leaves a lasting footprint. One of the most impactful aspects of the programme was its interactive nature. Students actively participated by asking questions, discussing real-world scenarios and sharing their own experiences of using digital devices. These conversations enabled them to better understand how to identify unsafe online situations and respond appropriately if they ever felt uncomfortable or encountered suspicious activity. The presence of student volunteers and alumnus Jaineel Kumar Panchal made the session especially relatable for the young audience. Their experiences reinforced the idea that cyber safety is a shared responsibility and that informed choices can help create a safer online environment for everyone.Beyond raising awareness, the session encouraged students to embrace technology as a powerful tool for learning, creativity and collaboration while using it ethically and responsibly. It reinforced the importance of balancing digital engagement with critical thinking, empathy and respect for others in online spaces. At Witty International School, education extends beyond academic excellence to preparing students for the realities of an increasingly connected world. By organising initiatives such as the Cyber Safety Awareness Session, the school continues to nurture informed, responsible and future-ready learners who are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the digital landscape safely. The session concluded with students leaving not only better informed but also empowered to become responsible digital citizens, capable of making smart, safe and ethical choices in today's technology-driven world.

The campus soon came alive with cheerful greetings, warm hugs, and joyful reunions between children, parents, and teachers. It was a beautiful reminder that all the campuses of Witty Kids is not just a school, it is a family where every child is welcomed with love and care. For many young learners, the morning began with a mix of anticipation and wonder. Yet, any hesitation quickly disappeared as smiling teachers greeted them with open arms, reassuring words, and enthusiastic high-fives. The familiar faces and comforting environment instantly transformed nervous glances into bright smiles.Inside the classrooms, excitement filled every corner. Laughter echoed through the halls as children eagerly reunited with friends and explored their learning spaces. To make the transition back to school smooth and joyful, a variety of thoughtfully curated activities awaited them. One of the highlights of the day was the delightful Muppet Show at Wk Borivali and Wk Goregaon – “Witty Loves to Go to School”, which captured the children's attention from the very first moment. Through colourful characters, engaging storytelling, and playful interactions, the show reinforced the idea that school is a happy place filled with friendship, discovery, and fun.The spirit of exploration continued as children immersed themselves in hands-on learning experiences. Young minds busily engaged with building blocks, constructing imaginative creations while developing creativity and problem-solving skills. At another station, little hands carefully stacked colourful rings, celebrating each successful attempt with gleeful smiles. Shape sorting activities encouraged children to identify patterns and recognise different forms, while peg boards offered opportunities to strengthen fine motor skills through focused play.At WK Malad, the day also included a touching creative activity titled “My First Day at School”, inspired by the beloved story The Kissing Hand. Through art and expression, children shared their feelings about returning to school, creating meaningful keepsakes that celebrated courage, love, and new beginnings. Teachers engaged students through songs, storytelling, circle-time conversations, and interactive games that encouraged participation and collaboration. Every experience was thoughtfully designed to help children feel comfortable, valued, and excited about the year ahead.Parents, too, shared in these precious moments, watching proudly as their children settled into their classrooms with confidence and enthusiasm.
Wittians Lead the Charge Against Plastic Pollution on World Environment Day

On World Environment Day, Witty Education Group reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship by embracing the global theme #BeatPlasticPollution, inspiring students across its campuses in Malad, Borivali and Goregaon to become changemakers for a cleaner, greener future. Moving beyond conversations, Wittians demonstrated that meaningful environmental action begins with individual responsibility and collective commitment. As part of the celebration, students actively participated in Polynox and the Net Zero Campus Challenge, two impactful sustainability initiatives designed to encourage practical, long-term environmental solutions. Through these programmes, students explored innovative ways to minimise plastic usage, rethink waste management and create sustainable habits that can make a lasting difference. The initiatives encouraged learners to critically examine the environmental impact of everyday choices. Students conducted campus resource audits, identified opportunities to reduce waste, promoted responsible consumption and explored creative alternatives to single-use plastics. From evaluating resource utilisation to suggesting eco-friendly practices, they transformed classrooms into hubs of innovation, collaboration and environmental awareness. The Polynox initiative challenged students to reimagine the lifecycle of plastic by promoting responsible disposal, recycling and conscious consumption. Rather than viewing plastic as an unavoidable part of modern life, students were encouraged to think creatively about reducing dependency on disposable plastics and adopting sustainable alternatives. Their thoughtful ideas highlighted how small behavioural changes, when embraced collectively, can contribute to significant environmental impact.Complementing this effort, the Net Zero Campus Challenge empowered students to assess the sustainability of their own school environment. By auditing energy usage, waste generation, resource consumption and campus practices, students developed practical recommendations aimed at reducing the school's environmental footprint. The exercise not only strengthened their understanding of climate responsibility but also nurtured critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving skills. The activities reflected Witty Education Group's philosophy of experiential learning, where education extends beyond textbooks to address real-world challenges. Students became active participants in creating solutions rather than passive observers, understanding that sustainability is a shared responsibility requiring continuous effort and conscious decision-making.More importantly, these initiatives reinforced the idea that environmental stewardship begins with everyday actions. Whether choosing reusable alternatives, reducing waste, conserving resources or inspiring others to adopt sustainable habits, every step contributes towards building a healthier planet. Through collaborative learning and purposeful action, Wittians discovered that lasting change is created through consistent choices rather than isolated events.World Environment Day served as a powerful reminder that the fight against plastic pollution requires innovation, awareness and participation from every member of society. At Witty Education Group, students are encouraged to become environmentally responsible global citizens who recognise that their actions today shape the world of tomorrow. As campuses united under the message of #BeatPlasticPollution, every audit completed, every sustainable idea proposed and every eco-conscious decision made reflected a shared vision of protecting the planet for future generations. By transforming awareness into action through Polynox and the Net Zero Campus Challenge, Wittians have once again demonstrated that real change begins when education inspires purpose, responsibility and action.

Beyond Classrooms: At Glendale, Kindness is Part of the Curriculum

A child gently feeding a rabbit, a group of students pausing in excitement to watch swans glide gracefully across the water, another quietly stroking a rescued horse while listening to its story - these are not rare moments, they are everyday experiences that often become some of childhood’s most treasured memories. At Glendale, every experience is an opportunity to learn, grow, and discover.Education here is not only about academic success; it is about nurturing compassionate, responsible, and thoughtful individuals. From an early age, students are encouraged to develop values such as empathy, respect, responsibility, and kindness — qualities that shape not just successful learners, but caring human beings. One of the most meaningful ways this philosophy comes to life is through Glendale’s Petting Zoo, a special sanctuary that is home to 57 rescued animals, where each animal carries its own story of resilience, healing, and second chances. From majestic horses and donkeys to playful rabbits, curious goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, swans, and even ostriches, the Petting Zoo creates countless opportunities for students to build genuine connections with animals and nature. But this space is much more than a place of wonder; it is a living classroom where kindness becomes a habit. Learning Life Lessons Through Everyday ExperiencesAt Glendale, children do not simply observe animals from afar. They interact with them, care for them, understand their routines, and learn to respect their needs. In doing so, students naturally develop values that align closely with Glendale’s Leader in Me philosophy and the 7 Habits, learning lessons that stay with them long after they leave school. They begin to understand what it means to be responsible by caring for living beings and respecting routines. They learn empathy by recognising that every animal, especially rescued ones, deserves patience, care, and kindness.Through observation and gentle interaction, children practise being thoughtful, compassionate, and mindful of others, qualities that shape confident, emotionally intelligent leaders.Whether it is quietly feeding a rabbit, spending time with a goat, or simply sitting peacefully beside a horse, students learn that leadership begins with kindness. In a world where childhood is increasingly shaped by screens and fast paced schedules, Glendale offers something beautifully real: the chance for children to slow down and reconnect with nature. The Petting Zoo becomes a meaningful introduction to biodiversity, sustainability, and environmental responsibility, helping students understand that every living being plays an important role in our ecosystem.More importantly, children learn that caring for animals is not an act of duty alone; it is an act of empathy. This love and respect for nature is something Glendale hopes students carry with them for life, an understanding that kindness towards animals reflects kindness towards the world itself. What makes Glendale’s Petting Zoo truly special is the care that goes into ensuring every animal is safe, healthy, and loved. The rescued animals are looked after with great attention, and a veterinary doctor remains on call whenever an animal requires medical care, while routine monthly visits ensure their continued well being. For students, this becomes an important lesson in responsibility and humane care, understanding that compassion is not simply spoken about, but actively practised every day.At Glendale, every learning space is intentionally designed to inspire holistic development. Whether inside classrooms, through experiential learning, or in the quiet joy of connecting with animals, students are encouraged to grow into compassionate individuals who lead with empathy.Because education is not just about preparing children for examinations. It is about preparing them for life. And sometimes, the most meaningful lessons arrive with feathers, hooves, soft paws, and gentle eyes. At Glendale, kindness is not just taught; it is lived, every single day.

Principal’s Message – May Newsletter

Dear Parents, The month of May brought immense pride and joy to our school community as the Cambridge Board examination results were announced. Our students have achieved outstanding results, reflecting their dedication, perseverance, and commitment throughout the academic year. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to every student, teacher, and parent who has contributed to this success. Each achievement represents far more than a grade; it stands as a testament to hard work, resilience, and a genuine passion for learning. While we celebrate these accomplishments, it is important to recognise that success is seldom the result of last-minute effort. It is built through consistency, discipline, and the development of positive habits over time. Students who manage their time effectively, attend lessons regularly, complete their work conscientiously, and approach learning with sincerity cultivate skills that serve them well not only in examinations but throughout their lives. Small, consistent efforts often lead to remarkable outcomes. At the same time, education extends far beyond academic achievement. The school years play a pivotal role in shaping a young person's character, values, attitudes, and relationships. It is during this time that students learn responsibility, integrity, resilience, empathy, collaboration, and respect for others. These qualities form the foundation of both personal fulfilment and future success. As we embark on a new academic year, I encourage every student to strive not only for excellence in their studies but also for excellence in character. The true purpose of education is not simply the acquisition of knowledge, but the development of thoughtful, compassionate, responsible, and confident individuals who are prepared to make a meaningful contribution to society.I wish all our students a year filled with curiosity, growth, achievement, and countless opportunities to learn and flourish.Warm Regards, Dr. Seema Sharma, Principal, CambridgeWitty International School Malad
